Call me technologically challenged, but I have absolutely no idea how this episode of “This American Life” from 2011 popped up in my downloaded podcasts. But I’m lucky it did, as it made for an hour or so of entertaining, thought-provoking, insightful listening – on poultry. “Poultry Slam” is a sort-of annual tradition of TAL, an episode dedicated to all things chicken, turkey and other poultry. In this episode from 2011, expect stories on how a tic-tac-toe playing chicken was (nearly) used to get a wrongly convicted man off death row, how a wild turkey terrorized a sleepy town on Martha’s Vineyard, and how to make cruelty-free foie gras.
